My Favorite NW United States Firewood

Here is my 2 cents worth...

1) Oregon White Oak - 21m btu/cord
2) Oregon Ash- 19m btu/cord
3) Douglas Fir - 17m btu/cord
4) Big Leaf Maple - 17m btu/cord

I also like Hawthorne. It burns as hot or hotter than white oak but you have to deal with the thorns. If you see someone cleaning out a fence row of Hawthorne see if they will let you take it as most of thorns are gone. But if you're allergic to poison oak watch out in certain areas!!

Please note: All btu ratings are relative and approximate depending on the weight/density of the wood. It varies quite a bit....
